Today we began some planning work for our upcoming peace assembly. It will be on March 17 at 11:00 am. Please mark your calendars so that you can come see your child perform. We also spent some more time building 3D shapes out of play-doh, crazy forts and marshmallows. We learned what a Venn Diagram is and we used one to compare 2 stories. We also had Stop, Drop & Dance a few times today in celebration of February being heart month.

We had another great morning of swimming. This afternoon we did a word work activity where we had to write our words in 5 different ways. Then we used marshmallows, toothpicks and crazy forts to build 3D shapes. We had a lot of fun building.
Reminders: - no swimming tomorrow - please return your TWAS journals Today we learned a new song in music called "Heroes". Then we went swimming and had another great lesson. We wrote in our TWAS journals, please read your child's entry and respond.
Reminders: - We are swimming again on Monday - please bring all your stuff (list below in Thursday's blog) - Please return your TWAS journals Today Mrs. Bedry taught us about sleep cycles and how we transition between dreaming and non-dreaming. She also told us how babies soothe themselves as they wake up in the night. We had our first fire drill in our new building today - we did great! We finished writing about our superhero disguises. In phys. ed. we practiced rolls and safe landings.
WE ARE GOING SWIMMING TOMORROW!! To help children please send your child to school with their swim suit on underneath their clothing on swim days. Please make sure your child is wearing clothes he/she can easily change into afterwards (i.e. track suit/sweatshirt/jogging pants). It would also be helpful if long hair was tied back. You may also want to pack an extra snack! In your swim bag please pack: · A towel · Underclothes · Plastic bag for a wet bathing suit/towel · Hairbrush (if needed) · Goggles (optional) · Swimming cap (optional) or long hair can be tied back Reminders: - swimming is tomorrow - tomorrow is a half-day Today we went to our first swimming lesson and it was great! Ask your child about the skills they learned. We are starting some word work activities. We each got a special list to practice - today we had to cut it out and get it ready for activities tomorrow. We had to try to answer some tricky math questions this afternoon.

We also did some shape problem solving using our understanding of sides and vertices. We completed our story building projects with the other grade 1s and 2s and look forward to sharing them next week! Reminders:
Happy Valentine's Day! Today we spent some time working on Valentine's activities. We also finished our abstract shape art and wrote a reflection about our field trip last week.
